Do we care about our patient?
Yes. We care about them so that we try our best to find the diagnosis and give medication to them.
Do we care about our patient?
Yes. We care about them so that we try to understand their emotion in facing the disease. We do not want them to become so depressed with the disease that will affect the treatment.
Do we really care about our patient?

Do we really care about our patient?
Yes. We care about them so that we try to optimize the dose of medication for them to achieve better outcome. We do necessary surgery to ensure the threat is no longer in the body. We put them in regular follow up so that we can have a close monitoring to the progress of the illness and early action can be carried out to save their life.
We seldom treat the spiritual aspect of the patient. We seldom remind the patient that the illness is a test for him. We usually put a blame to the patient if he is not compliant to the medication.
After all, the illness is from Allah. The illness is a physical test, emotional test as well as spiritual test (read: test of belief to Allah) for the patients. We should facilitate the patients to go through all the tests successfully.
The fate of the illness is in the hand of Allah. We help the patient by alleviating the pain and reducing the suffer. We also help the patient by comforting the emotion. We really help the patient by facilitating him to realize that the illness is part of journey to meet Allah.
Treating the physical illness is an amanah because we have the knowledge of it after spending the precious 7 years in life in medical school. Treating the soul is also a responsibility because Muslims are brothers and sisters.

Abu Hamzah Anas bin Malik, who was the servant of the Messenger of Allah, reported that the Prophet said: "None of you truly believes (in Allah and in His religion) until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself" Al-Bukhari & Muslim
From Abdullah ibn Amr Al-Ass, the Prophet, said:"…..Whoever wishes to be delivered from the fire and enter the garden should die with faith in Allah and the Last Day and should treat the people as he wishes to be treated by them…"Sahih Muslim; Book 020, Number 4546
It is very much easier to talk than to do it. Let us pray to Allah to give us strength to start a step on this matter so at least we have a little answer for Him in the hereafter. Wallahualam.
